Celebrating Earth Month at Paysafe

In April, the Paysafe team held several activities to commemorate Earth Month.

Our team in Vienna held a litter pick-up at a local park, our team in Sofia cleaned up a local mountain and planted 500 lilac shrubs, and our team in Peru cleared more than 290 kilograms of beach waste.

We spoke to three employees about the importance of Earth Month at Paysafe.

Meet Irma Stefanova, Events and Reporting Specialist based in Sofia.

Tell us a little about yourself and what your team is working on right now.

I'm Irma Stefanova, an Events and Reporting Specialist in the IT department and an active member of the corporate responsibility committee in Sofia. My team and I are deeply involved in organizing impactful events that not only foster team spirit but also contribute to environmental sustainability.

How important do you think promoting sustainability in the workplace is for employee morale and a sense of wellbeing? Can you share any examples?

Engaging in eco-friendly initiatives fosters a sense of purpose and achievement among employees. For example, our volunteering efforts in Vitosha Mountain involved building and painting new bridges, benches and tables in spots around the mountain, litter cleaning, renovating fences, and building new signs on the eco trails. These initiatives also provide valuable opportunities for colleagues from different departments to connect and collaborate.

What role do employees play in driving sustainable practices within our workplace?

Our employees bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the planet. Whether it's reducing waste, conserving energy, volunteering, or advocating for eco-friendly policies, our collective efforts significantly contribute to creating a more sustainable environment.

Meet Ande Faseler, Director of Talent Acquisition, North America & LATAM based in Jacksonville.

Tell us a little about yourself and what your team is working on right now.

Our Talent Acquisition team champions our business goals by aligning our Talent Acquisition strategy and efforts to deliver top talent. The Jacksonville office is an amazing space and it’s great to collaborate with our local teams in person.

How do you think promoting sustainability in the workplace can enhance employee morale and promote a sense of community and belonging among colleagues? Can you share any examples?

Community brings us together and it is good to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Promoting sustainability in our workplace enhances morale and creates a sense of purpose – it fosters a commitment to a larger cause while boosting morale and camaraderie among colleagues who share similar values.

Beyond Earth Month, what ideas do you have for making our workplace more eco-friendly throughout the year?

I think our workplace services team does a fantastic job making our office space eco-friendly by providing recycling programs for paper and plastic. Our workplace also utilizes energy-efficient lights and appliances that automatically turn off when not in use.  A ‘green team’ or committee to champion sustainability initiatives and engage employees in the process is a great way to empower positive change.

Meet Bryn Larsen, Senior Reporting Analyst, based in Montreal.

Tell us a little about yourself and what your team is working on right now.

I’m on the Business Process Management team in IT Service Management. We are working on several initiatives to revamp and streamline data, documentation, and processes.

How important do you think promoting sustainability in the workplace is for employee morale and a sense of wellbeing? Can you share any examples?

I think the physical space we work in plays a vital role in how we feel about our job and the work we do, whether that’s at home or on-site. In Montreal, our office is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified building, meaning that we have a newly renovated, modern space that has a reduced carbon footprint, conserves energy and water, and reduces waste. We also have amazing views of the city. It’s great to come into the office and know that you’re doing your small part without compromising on functionality.

What role do employees play in driving sustainable practices within our workplace?

In Montreal, we are fortunate to be in a building that makes recycling easy, but it’s up to us to ensure that materials go in the correct recycling can and aren’t thrown in the trash. We can also turn off lights when we leave the room, wait until the dishwasher is full before turning it on, and if we forget our water bottle, we drink out of mugs – no single-use plastic bottles here. These little actions add up over time!
